Fling Together Collective is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to the promotion and development of performance-based Scottish Highland dance through the creation of accessible educational opportunities, scholarship programs, and cultural exchanges. Fling Together was initially founded in response to the global pandemic that physically separated our community. As we adapt and grow, we continue our mission of fostering collaboration while connecting dancers with performance opportunities and each other.

Collaborative projects, dance team recruitment services, and financial sponsorships offered with the goal of supporting initiatives and events that have a positive impact in our community.
Dance & Development Team
Part of our mission is to provide cultural exchange opportunities for dancers. The dance team is an avenue to provide dancers with performance experience while sharing the beauty of Highland Dance with others. The Development Team offers year round dance performance content and educational workshops, including workshops open to the global community, designed to connect North American based dancers with local and international performance opportunities.
Scholarship Program
A program designed to help lessen the financial barrier for dancers wishing to travel abroad to participate in unpaid highland dance performance opportunities like tattoos, stage shows and cultural tours.
OUR STORY
from virtual event to nonprofit corporation...
From the beginning, Fling Together has been driven by the interests and involvement of our incredible community. After the cancellation of the 2020 SDUSA National Championships, the organizing committee quickly pivoted to produce an innovative online experience. The result, "Fling Together 2020", was a 30 minute livestream presentation accompanied by 3 days of live interactive programming. It was a truly global experience with participation from the USA, Canada, Scotland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, and Brasil. Recognizing the potential of this new global community the next phase of the initiative was born - "Fling Together" (with financial and logistical support from the Rocky Mountain Highland Dancers). Fling Together offered a series of virtual community workshops and launched the "Practice Challenge", a collaboration between champion dancers and highland vendors to provide tips and inspiration while we continued to struggle with lockdowns.
New Year, New Name! In 2021 Fling Together became "Fling Together Collective". Fling Together Collective is an initiative built to foster the innovative connections and collaborations that have resulted from the pandemic years. Since 2021, we have hosted several collaborative video projects including "Ballet Goes Highland: The Nutcracker" and a global St. Patrick's Day recital. As we evolve with community needs, we aspire to continue to connect dancers with opportunities and foster collaborations across the globe.

In 2023, Fling Together Collective officially became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. While our mission largely remains unchanged, this status has enabled us to offer financial support to community initiatives that promote highland dance in the USA and launch the Fling Together Dance and Development Teams & the Fling Together Scholarship Program
