Connect. Collaborate. #FlingTogether

Fling Together Collective is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to the promotion and development of performance-based Scottish Highland dance through the creation of accessible educational opportunities, scholarship programs, and cultural exchanges. Fling Together was initially founded in response to the global pandemic that physically separated our community. As we adapt and grow, we continue our mission of fostering collaboration while connecting dancers with performance opportunities and each other.

Scholarship Program

We’re thrilled to offer collaborative projects, dance team recruitment services, and financial sponsorships, all aimed at uplifting initiatives and events that make a positive difference in our community! Join us in creating a vibrant and supportive environment together!

The Development Team offers year round dance performance content and educational workshops, including workshops open to the global community, designed to connect North American based dancers with local and international performance opportunities.

This program is designed to reduce financial barriers for dancers seeking to travel internationally for dance opportunities. It provides talented performers with the chance to engage in unpaid highland dance experiences, including tattoos, stage performances, and cultural tours. We invite dancers from around the world to apply and take advantage of this initiative.

Dance Company

Part of our mission is to provide cultural exchange opportunities for dancers. The dance team is an avenue to provide dancers with performance experience while sharing the beauty of Highland Dance with others.

Our Team.

At the heart of the Fling Together Collective is a passionate team of Highland dancers turned dedicated administrators.

We're small in number, but our love for sharing all things Highland runs deep.

Story

Our Story.

from virtual event to nonprofit corporation...

Fling Together Collective began in 2020 as a creative response to the canceled SDUSA National Championships, launching a global virtual event that brought together dancers from eight countries. With support from the Rocky Mountain Highland Dancers, Alexa continued the Fling Together movement which quickly grew into a series of online workshops and the popular “Practice Challenge.” In 2021, it officially became Fling Together Collective, focused on building meaningful connections through collaborative virtual projects like Ballet Goes Highland: The Nutcracker and a global St. Patrick’s Day recital.

In an unexpected twist, the next chapter of Fling Together Collective wasn’t born on a dance floor—but on a chairlift in Breckenridge, Colorado, where longtime dance friends Alexa and Kate reunited for a ski day (a rare treat for dancers!). There, the idea took shape: an organization dedicated to helping U.S. dancers reach their performance goals. They soon brought in fellow dance friend Elizabeth, and together founded the Colorado-based Fling Together Collective nonprofit in 2023. This new status expanded our mission with the launch of the Fling Together Dance Company, Development Team, and Scholarship Program—all while continuing to connect, inspire, and uplift the highland dance community. Though founded and headquartered in Colorado, our team is located across the U.S., bringing diverse perspectives and regional insights to our work.
